Outsourced Sales…
Hatteras Networks Inc, headquartered in North Carolina USA, designs and manufactures ‘Ethernet over copper’ network equipment. This allows carriers to offer symmetrical broadband services to their customers, hitting the service sweet spot between 2 and 40Mbps, alongside (or instead of) the widespread but asymmetric ADSL products.
Creator Tech was chosen to act for Hatteras in an exclusive outsourced Sales and Business Development role in Australia/New Zealand. This followed a series of wins Creator Tech had achieved for other emerging vendors who did not have a direct presence in Asia-Pacific, such as Sandvine Inc, Starent and Bridgewater Systems.
Creator Tech landed the first business for Hatteras in the region. This was with Australian carrier PowerTel, since acquired by TNZ and merged into AAPT, and which became the first Service Provider in Asia-Pacific to launch symmetrical Ethernet-over-Copper services.
AAPT is now offering their ‘Midband Ethernet’ offer to three distinct market segments: large enterprises, the SME market, and wholesale service provider customers. The Ethernet-over-Copper service allows both enterprise and service provider customers to use bandwidth in scalable increments from 2 to 40 Mbps. Some exchanges are in process of being upgraded with capability up to 15Mbps per copper pair; meaning an eight ULL copper pair systems could support up to 120Mbps symmetrical bandwidth on a single service.
